You don't get shorter. Many skilled gymnasts are shorter only because being small and light has advantages in the sport. You don't actually shrink.
You don't get shorter you just don't grow a lot. Your body spends all its energy and resources into your physical workout and maintain yourself not to grow etc.
you dont get shorter, but it can stunt your growth.
