I'm not very familiar with muslim culture and beliefs. But I would say that cheerleading does unfortunately have a bad reputation of girls being mean, inappropriate, wearing skimpy outfits, etc. Sometimes in cheer you have to do booty shaking and some rude dance moves.
Dance on the other hand is known for being classy. You would have to wear a leotard though, I don't know if that is okay. But you could wear shorts over it probably. You could do ballet which is very reserved and classic and appropriate. Jazz and tap would probably be okay too. They don't involve any gross or rude dance moves.
You could also try tumbling classes. You can usually wear a shirt and shorts and you learn how to tumble. Tumbling is doing flips. So you would learn cartwheels, handstands, round offs, front and back walkovers, back handsprings, back tucks, front flips, etc. You can take tumbling classes at gymnastics or cheerleading gyms. You don't compete or perform and you don't have to wear a skimpy outfit. So he would probably approve of that.
Perhaps you could play something like volleyball, basketball or softball.
I would say no to cheer but yes to dance. Many people consider cheerleaders to be (for lack of a better word) sluts. Cheerleaders are the main source of school spirit but the uniforms often include a very short skirt showing lots of leg and a risqué top. If your parents are at all strict which it sounds like they're a little, I would avoid cheerleading. Dance on the other hand is different. Dancers are usually considered to be graceful and respectful, just make sure if you do decide to take up dance, I would not recommend hip hop because that can go a little overboard if you know what I mean. Ballet is safe and jazz and tap are good also. Dance can also lead you into other opportunities so I highly recommend it

emm i think the purpose of cheerleading in a way is to atteact attention, whereas in islam women must do everything in order not to attract inappropriate attention so i dont think its a good idea.
