Gymnastic Disadvantage?

I started Gymnastics pretty young and was in it for years. I quit for about 3 years.... I want to join again but am I at a big disadvantage? Would you recommend not going to competitions? (I would love to) Also should I practice flexibily at home first so I am prepared? All answers are helpful, Thank You!

People who quit gymnastics for more than a year or so generally don't stick with it very long when the decided to return to it. One of the main reasons is that you lose your skills, and it takes quite a while to get back into gymnastics shape. When you come back, you'll probably be put in a beginners group, where there's a good chance you'll be older than everyone else. If you return to the same gym you had been going to, that complicates things even more, because you'll see your former teammates who didn't quite for 3 years and they will be very far ahead of you, maybe 3 or 4 levels higher than you, and you'll come the realization that you're not going to be able to catch up to them. This can be very disheartening.

Also as far as competitions go, that really wouldn't be up to you, that would be up your coaches and what level they feel you should be at.

Basically you will be at a disadvantage in comparison to those who didn't quit for 3 years. But there's nothing saying that you can't do gymnastics, just make sure you know what to expect.

You should totally do it again! I don't know how old you are but you're never too old for gymnastics. I would start with some recreational classes to get your skills back and then consider doing a competitive team in a few months or a year. It wouldn't hurt to stretch at home and do some conditioning like ab exercises and running. Go ahead and sign up this month! There is no need to wait.

While you are at a disadvantage because you have not done gymnastics in a while, you are also at an advantage because you have done gymnastics before. You should compete because it is a great learning experience and you don't want to regret it. Stretching and increasing your flexibility at home is a great idea and will show that you are dedicated. Go for it, no matter what your age is, you can do it:)

(1) Well, when you leave gym then, your body starts increasing.

(2) Your tummy will be also increased after leaving gym.

(3) Your body will be loose and your skin will be loose too in old age.

So, these are disadvantages of gym.
