I feel that since it is called "cheer leading", you wouldn't call it a sport. Cheer leading almost seems like its a type of gymnastics but more team and dance oriented. Maybe if it was not called cheer leading and called something else, it would be known as a sport. I mean when you think of "cheer leading", you think of just a group of girls going out to support a school sports team. Cheer leading still incorporates difficult stunts and maneuvers like such you see in other sports. It's just the name "cheer leading" that throws people off I think. I think that competitive "cheer" is a sport, but maybe not so much when you're just cheering to root on your schools football team.
When I think of what it means to be a sport, I think of things like lacrosse, football or baseball. Cheer leading is a sport, people who say it isn't are being pretty ignorant. I wouldn't consider it a sport on NCAA level, but anything that takes some sort of knowledge of the action to be good and some sort of physical strength is a sport. Golf is less strenuous than cheer but it is still considered a sport because you need to have a very specific technique and knowledge of the clubs and what not to play and be good at it. Cheer, even though not in the most traditional form, should in some way be considered a sport.
well a sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others so yea its a sport.
I believe it is. It takes dedication and hard work just as much as any other sport
I'd say yes. It takes strength and skill to do jumps and stunts, and it's very dangerous.
