Of coarse it is people dont think it is a sport because we make it look so easy. We throw 100 plus pound girls in the air and catch her. We do extreme tumbling that Olympic gymnast still mess up on. When people think of cheerleading they think of Dallas cowboy cheerleaders or little kids, not the constant work we put in falling on our face getting kicked and punched by each other. Also in all the movies and tv shows with cheerleaders there always the popular annoying bratty girls that no body likes, but most girls would be kicked off the team for acting like that. Also people are just jealous of how athletic cheerleaders are. In my opinion cheerleading is one of the hardest sports!
Oh girl I have answered this question so many times its not even funny! I definitely think its a sport! I'm a big fan of cheer leading and am about to start. People who say cheer isn't a sport, obviously don't know how hard cheerleader work. Now there are two kinds of cheer. School Cheer and Allstar/competitive cheer. Some people think that school cheer isn't a sport and Allstar is, Some people think both, and others think none of them are. I think Allstar is harder then school cheer and a lot more work, but I think they are both sports. They both require a lot of practice, work, and training. In football, you catch and throw a ball. In cheer you catch and throw PEOPLE. They throw the flyers like 20 feet in the air and they rely on 4 people to catch them. The tumbling and jumps they do require a lot of strength and flexibility. They have to be tight in all of their motions and they have to memorize the choreography. They go through hours of practice to get their routine perfectly. In the competitions, they have to make sure they all look nice and if they don't their team gets points deducted. Everyone's performance affects the team, and if one person does something a little off, points can get deducted. I don't get why anyone would say cheer leading isn't a sport. If anything its more of a sport than anything else. They work just as hard, maybe even harder, then people who play other sports like football. I know cheerleaders have that stereotype of being conceited bitches, but that's not true. I'll admit some girls think that they re all that but most don't. So yes I do think cheer leading is a sport.
It deffinetly a sport ! In 2012 it was actually made a official sport ! Don't argue with people who say its not because a queen would never get of her thrown to address a peasant . We work harder than half the athletes out there . Anyone can catch a ball but throw, twist , and catch a person takes skill . Plus we condition just like other sports ( if not more difficult conditioning ) . We have to be in shape , tumble , stunt , look happy even if we fall and get hurt . We do it all and make it look EASY and do it with a SMILE when were hurting . Cheerleaders are true athletes (: best sport out there .
Of course not..... Maybe it is related to every big sport event but you cant say it a sport itself.....
