Ways to practice stunting at home (cheer)?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
I was a flyer then a back spot and now I'm getting the opportunity to fly at my all star gym. I'm really flexible but I need to work on being really tight and stable to help my bases out as much as possible ( I'm 5' 6"). Any tips for me or ways you practice flying when your stunt group is not around? Tools I can use to help me get my positions more solid?

I would say to try these methods to help balance:

-arabesques

-flamingos

-get a stool and do stretches as you would in flying

Sometimes, even at night, i just lift my leg up while laying in be and push my other leg on the floorboard. It really helps. I hope I helped you!

I'm a flyer as well and when I'm at home practicing, I use the arm of my couch and lock my knee. To stay tight, straighten your leg as much as possible. Don't lift your toes up and give your bases a hard time, balance them out. Don't look down at them and try to focus on something. If your doing single legs things, try doing them on a pillow and that should do it. Be safe! :)

Try to exercise your core. This would help you to keep balance.

Other than that, I wouldn't advise to practice anything at home, you can hurt yourself.
