Cheerleaders:do you practice barefoot?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
This question is directed at all those who are cheerleaders.Do you attend practice in bare feet? Why or why not?

I always wear tennis shoes to practice, and so does everyone else on my team. This is because it would be much harder to stunt if the flyer isn't wearing shoes and it would probably hurt to land a jump without shoes on. We also wear shoes to competitions/games.

No. We don't because of the following:

1) Practicing barefoot provides a bigger risk for injuries.

2) Not wearing shoes is unsanitary where we practice (gym, wrestling room, outside, etc)

3) We ALWAYS perform in sneakers, so wearing sneakers at practice prepares you for performing at games, competitions, etc.

4) Imagine landing from a jump with barefeet on a cold, hard gym floor...OUCH!

5) No shoes while stunting is a MAJOR safety risk for the flyer, bases, and even the back spotter.

6) We run at practice outside, so just in case there's glass, rocks, or any other debris outside on our path, we wouldn't get hurt with sneakers on.

We practice in tennis shoes, which are our cheerleading shoes.

Please always think, especially with cheerleading, SAFETY first.

Happy cheering :)

No! We wear tennis shoes to practice. We wear them to games/competitions so its easier to get used to the shoes we will be wearing for the real thing.

I normally do, it is just easier, saves having sweaty shoes and socks with you. I know I shouldn't as it is not as safe but it is much nicer. You can just slip on my tennis skirt and top and I am ready.

I wear my cheerleading shoes because that's what you're supposed to do. I recommend any type of nfinity cheerleading shoe, those are the best to chose from.
