I have. I joined when it forst opened. I want the site to be successful. I was impressed with KW to create something and bring his vision to pass. I was asked to be a moderator. I beleive KW tries to have an equal amount of TMA and combat sports moderators to keep it fair. I don't have the time or desire to be a moderator. Ther are some things I like and others I dislike about the site. It is not as user friendly as i would like. While it is not difficult to navigate, it can be achallenge to find some of your topics that you have posted on. I haven't been in a while. I stopped going there wasn't much bon ther the was keeping my interest as far as topics. I would have to read through too much to find a good topic. It would be easier if you could see current topics instead of going through every section trying to find something.
You are opening a can of worms for many. KW is who is is. Some don't agree with he and he can be bit of jerk at times. Everyone respected him for being who is was and sticking to his guns. But after he began his site he became very beligerent on here and that upset much of the community. Personally I think he is an intelligent youg man. he has some great ideas. He is still a little immatture. But that is to be expected at his age. We were much like this too at that age or at least many of us were. Even though I don't go to the site I still wish the site succeeds. I will vouch for him and say he is much different on his site than he is on here. He has something against yahoo. I believe he wants or wanted yahoo to fail. Maybe because there are thigs he doesn't like about yahoo or how he gets many of his accounts deleted by yahoo. That may be frustratiing. But he has gone about some things the wrong way. I have said this to him on a few ocassions.
Even though he has lost a lot of respect for what he has done after ocreatinf his site, I believe he can regain it in time if he is willing to earn it. But I don't think he cares or he doesn't want to care if he has anyone respect. I think it is the latter. I beleive he wants it but is hiding behind the mask giving an appearance that he doesn't care.
Edit:
I agree with Possum. It is the negative things that KW has done here especially after he created the site that has caused many to abandon or not have anything to do with the site. It keeps mant TMA and combat arts people away.
Yes, I have. I have no biases for or against it, I simply don't have the time to stay with it, and it has been a while since I've been to the site. I have not had any negative comments, privately or publicly, with anyone at the site, or from anyone promoting the site, and so, I can't say that I have the same experiences as others do. For me, my experience there has been positive, if not sustained. There are many things about it that improve on what Y!A does - specifically, that there are open-ended forums, unlike here where questions get closed rather quickly. And here, Q and A are limited in size.
I also like the fact that everyone can see who likes and dislikes a comment or question. This eliminates the "who farted" syndrome, and you can call someone out immediately without adding to trollism. And, if you make a mistake in TU or TD, you can change it.
KW's idea is noble: there are legitimate sections at CD for those in TMA - and respect is demanded - and there are legitimate sections for MMA - and respect is demanded. And then there are sections where respect is, well, "defenestrated". So, there are rules, and there are expectations - much more clearly defined and accepted than here in Y!A.
But the downside is that it is promoted by a troll, and so, there are negative biases. Perhaps if KW weren't so negative about his opinions, then maybe the site would be a bit more popular. But as it is, many here avoid it because of his negative attitude toward TMA.
If you go to the site, at least as far back as I remember, there wasn't the TMA vs MMA clash one might expect from a troll like KW, as can be easily surmised by reading the posts here on Y!A. In fact, the dialogs on CD were all very cordial and respectful, even in the areas where "anything goes".
For me, I have nothing against the site at all. It is a problem that there are not many contributors, and I think that the negative trolling here with the simultaneous attempts to advertise it have backfired. Rather than offer helpful and objective answers here on Y!A, the answers are negative, biased, (and often outright wrong - I suspect for the purpose of drumming up discussion and drawing attention to the adverts). So this, coupled with a plug for the CD site, seems unfriendly.
Perhaps if KW offered the same advice but not in a condescending tone - or even outright wrong information (which I'm sure he knows to be wrong) - then maybe the site can attract more flies with the honey than with the vinegar.
EDIT - I'm curious as to why you think a can of worms might be opened? There's nothing wrong with asking about the Caged Dojo, any more than asking about a particular school, or other sites - like Sherdog an Bullshido. It is very much allowed, even by Yahoo's guidelines. And you are asking for information about it. As I've talked and/or communicated with many people who've answered thus far, I can say that the answers given are absolutely accurate, despite my apparent plug for the site. As I said, for me, the experience has been positive. And for others, it has been negative.
There are several methods to improve quickly and naturally eye sight... To know how to do that you can find here a compelte method based on researches done by some scientist, for a cheap price:
http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=413
I can give you just some tips but I suggest to give a look to the method that i posted above...for example you can take more food that contains vitamin A such as carrots may help to naturally improve your eye sight. We can also always do exercises. There are exercises such as rolling your eyeball to form an invisible square that are always recommended by the doctors to improve one's eyesight. I don't know about quickly as there is no fast way to reach one's goal.
Vegetarians can help to improve one's eye sight. I believe it because I am a vegetarian and my eye short-sightedness power remains the same without any increase after about 2 years. The doctor was shocked because teenagers at my years will usually have a most increase since we are always watching TV, playing computers and also reading. I do not know whether it is totally true or not but it does affect a bit on the result.
Anyway i suggest to check the link that i posted :) It worked for me
Hope it helps.
I did a quick look at it a few weeks ago and didn't spend much time on it. So really didn't think much about it.
After seeing your question I went back and looked at it a bit closer and my thoughts are that it's a nice clean looking site. The forums seem to be organized well, and the sample of discussion topics that I looked at seemed to be decent. Folks seemed to be having good discussions and to me that's what's important.
As for KW, it appears to me that he's toned things down a bit lately which I think is good. My only issue with him is his bias to MMA and previously his attacks on anything that wasn't MMA. IMHO, MMA has a place in the marital arts world, but it's not the be all/end all that some make it out to be. Likewise, not all traditional martial arts are "good" nor are all "bad".
I also think his knowledge of some areas of martial arts are weak. Such as his understanding of kata, and some of the traditional training methods. Unlike him, I was very fortunate to have trained under and with some very knowledgeable seniors who not only showed me how these things work, but also explained them. My point is that some things that KW and others see as "useless" or as not beneficial to fighting really are. They just aren't as "western" as some of the other things we see in MMA and other styles.
Finally, I'd ad that I suspect that KW doesn't see the growing trend of MMA McDojos, and his bias doesn't allow him to warn folks of the growing problem. I know of several in our area as the popularity of MMA has brought about the scam artist looking for $$$$.
The bottom line is that the Caged Dojo site looks pretty decent. I think KW isn't a bad guy just biased in what he's currently doing, and his experiences have limited his ability to look wider into the martial arts world. So since you asked, yes you opened a can of worms but no not all of us hate him, or don't respect him. Some of us see him like anything else, having good and bad, and being human like the rest of us.
i have look at it since kw locked me out for a fight we had. even though i never did anything on the site or even brought it up on there. i always keep the two separate.
and at this point since he no longer trusts me i would never return. i cant be part of a site where im distrusted
edit:>
the biggest issue with that site is not having enough active members to keep it up. he might have over a hundred members but few are active. you need at least 250 to 300 active members to keep a site like that moving. once it loses momentum it wont be easy to get back.
i aslo agree with liondancer, pugpaws, dave and a few others
edit:>
you seem to forget kw as i explained back then, i was travailing for work an only had internet access via my phone which i could not log onto the site from or answer yahoo messages.
believe what ever you want, what ever floats your boat
All the knowledgeable and reputable people left that site a long time ago, it was half way decent when it started then went down hill real fast. I know for a fact he blocked many of the tc from yahoo after they joined and locked them out of his site, just to keep the numbers up he kept them as members. When he had no activity he resorted to spamming yahoo, and it nearly cost him the site as they shut him down for it for a while.
I did when they first started it and had an invitation to join it. One of my friends who has face book logged in and I checked it out through using his account. I really limit my facebook though and using it for certain Internet security reasons and so I have not been back to it since. This forum offers enough for me in so far as I myself am concerned and don't hold it against those that might use and interact in that forum.
Can of worms?
I think I don't want to try something I don't know is safe because I don't want to get a computer virus. Sometimes I think he's mean but I may just be misunderstanding, but still I don't want to go to the site anyway.
Depends who you ask. I know I'd get into more arguments there than constructive debates.
Some like it. Others don't.
KW - This, I gotta see.
Yeah I'm in there from time to time. Checking it out but I not as much as here.
Despite what we think of KW love or hate, has anyone actually checked out the caged dojo site?
You opened up a can of worms alright, the cage is a dead site with 3 active members all they do is spam yahoo for more people.
Why don't you ask them why they don't spam bullshido or shreddog, instead of yahoo?
There a bunch of hypocrites.
I've checked it out before.
I went to that site and got a virus on my computer. You need to avoid that site, its riddled with virus.
