BOXING-MMA: St-Pierre Vs. Mayweather, Jr: predictions?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
Floyd only knocks out guys who rush in. If GSP was cerebral enough to pot-shot or stall the boxing rounds, he could easily survive to the MMA rounds. Mayweather doesn't have such an option. Really, really good wrestlers have trouble staying upright against GSP; really good submission guys have trouble keeping him in their guard, and none have been able to submit him from there. In all honesty, given the MASSIVE disparity in MMA skills (kicking, grappling, submissions, etc), GSP should end this in the second round, probably by choke.

GSP has already spent time training with Freddie Roach. He knows how to throw a punch, he's spent time on boxing-only skills, and while he's nowhere near Mayweather's skill, or even the skill level of Mayweather's challengers, he has enough skill to survive a round or two, and the intelligence to do so. Mayweather doesn't have that option. Given three years or so, maybe he'd develop enough skills to survive, but within the span of a year, he no matter who his coach was, he wouldn't be able to stop GSP's takedowns and wouldn't be able to keep him from passing guard. If guys like Diaz, Koscheck, Fitch, Condit, Penn, and Hughes couldn't stop GSP from dominating them on the ground, Mayweather doesn't have a snowball's chance.

Round 1- floyd kicks st Pierres *** all over the ring and dominates the boxing round. Round 2 - George survived the first round as he has some experience in boxing floyed however ha no experience in MMA. As soon as the second round starts St Pierre shoots for mayweathers legs gets the takedown and within 30 seconds or so has floyd tapping out, could be an arm bar triangle choke, rear naked choke who knows an MMa fighter can survive a boxing ring, a boxer gets defeated in the cage

1. GSP is 190lbs by match time

2. GSP can survive round 1 without getting knocked out

3. GSP takes Mayweather down in round 2 and wins by either ground and pound or submission

If it was pure boxing match then Mayweather wins no problem. GSP was a great striker when he started in UFC but his game changed to takedown and gnp which caused his boxing to degrade. Now all you see him doing is taking people to the ground for 5 rounds and winning by decision.

The fight would be over about 20 seconds into the 2nd round.

George would be able to hang in there with the boxing but would probably lose on points.

But as soon as it came to that 2nd round GSP's wrestling skills would make Mayweather look like a fool, GSP would get him to the ground and just be to strong and destroy him with elbows and BJJ.

MMA rules gsp win, boxing rules mayweather wins. its pretty obvious

idk

Boxing Fans,

MMA Fans,

Recently Floyd publicly stated he is unimpressed with Pound For Pound MMA Champion Anderson Silva, during a press junket, when by chance he was asked about the upcoming Silva Vs Weidman fight: Start Quote

"This is boxing. I'm not disrespecting nobody. I respect the guys and whatever they do, but this is boxing. I don't know that guy," ... "Tell me he's been at the top for 17 years? ....[He has a] half decade more to go, then talk to me." End Quote.

Time to put Money's proverbial money where his mouth is!

...... ... ONE QUESTION, .....

Q 1. Because Anderson Silva is a middleweight (occasional light-heavyweight @ 185 lbs).....

Who would win in a MIXED Boxing & MMA Fight?:

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. VERSUS Georges St. Pierre (welterweight)?

Round 1 - Boxing Only

Round 2 - MMA allowed

Round 3 - Boxing Only

....and so on and so forth UNTIL the last, round 8**

** ~ arbitrarily picked an even 8 rounds to blend EQUALLY the numerous rounds of boxing with the fewer rounds of MMA.

NOTE:

1. Given St-Pierre ALREADY knows how to use his hands but for this fight he could be trained by an accredited/professional boxing coach.

2. Given Mayweather, Jr. does not know how to fight in MMA style, he could be trained by an accredited/professional MMA coach
