2012 Olympic Ceremonies: Stupid?

yes. very.

Yes I agree with you, the bit you’re talking about is cheesy but you’ve missed the best bit. It starts on a high, lames out a bit in the middle and then spurts a finish. The first 17 minutes were, how you say, awesome. I thought it was going to be embarrassing but the beginning was the best I’ve seen and I’ve seen about 11 of them not including the winter ones.

… and before you ask, what’s with the funnels?

It’s the new IOC transparent drug test policy. Each team had to present their first batch of communal urine samples at the end of the opening ceremony for inspection. Cheats were publicly expelled on the spot. It gets very interesting indeed.

It’s a secret. You have to watch to the end to find out. I wouldn't want to spoil it for you. It’s worth waiting for.

Why is everyone asking this hours later? Why didn't you watch it at the time? I thought it was shown live all over the planet. We had to stay up way past our bedtimes so that you could watch it at peak-time. If we’d known that you were going to watch a recording then we’d have had it earlier and got to bed on time. We’ve a busy day tomorrow. And for some reason they’re only showing photos in replay on the BBC news instead of the vid they covered live. Poor old Sky aren’t even allowed into the stadium and had to do with a commentator with the outside of the stadium as a background. Lol.

I like the first bit with all the country side and village playing cricket and horse was the best. the industry age was good but not great. The torch relay and lighting of the codumard was great. The part for teenage i was not to excited by. But I am in my 40 so maybe my age is something to do with it. I was most disapoint in the story character as I don't like harry potter.

it is supposed to show you a history of the country and let's just say china's history is all about war and tradition where as the uk history is very colourful and not conservative. This is the country that basically invented pop culture. anything that is cool there now will be cool in 6 months in the USA. Did anyone else think that the tune they started the GOSH hospital segment with soulded like the Haloween movie theme song. kind of strange.

I'm sorry - there was a musical number celebrating the National Health Service.

Are you all insane? It was horrible.

Yea I didnt get it but I liked how they went back in time and showed all of the old musicians like the beatles and such.

well when u get 5 billion dollars and ten thousand volunteers, u can make ur own opening ceremony

This was WAY better than Beijing.

Anybody else think the ceremonies this year were just awful? I thought they were so cheesy and stupid. It's the Olympics, not a teen movie. Really, what was with the kissing couple? I missed the beginning, was there some storyline going on i just missed or something? And peace signs and smiley faces? C'mon!

However, they did have a big act to follow, with Beijing's amazing performance last year.
