The Mariners have been a very exciting team to watch the past month. Nick Franklin, Zunino, Brad Miller, Seager have all been producing. Smoak has improved as well as Ackley.
They won't make the playoffs this year, but don't be surprised to see them win 75+ games. I think It is quite possible with the way they have been playing. They were 13 games out of the wild card, then we won 6 in a row and now 8.5 games back.
Sorry to be blunt, but you haven't been paying attention.
Bavasi kind of nuked the team during his tenure as GM. Zduriencik has made a lot of changes, notably restocking the farm system. The team has improved a bit over each if the last 2-1/2 seasons, and they have recently brought up some if the young players and let go some of the stopgap players.
While it's a small sample, the Mariners have been hot over the past month or so, with the offense picking up.
They still need help in the rotation, some in the bullpen, and need to settle the outfield. But there is reason to be optimistic. While "wait'll next year" can get old, but I think you may see marked improvement real soon.

I wasn't expecting it THAT soon. Seven straight wins is a really small sample size, but you can see that things have picked up.
[Bedard was received in trade for ADAM Jones, not Andruuw Jones. And Bedard might have actually been a productive pitcher except for two labrum surgeries. I think it's quite a testament to surgical advancements that Bedard is still pitching after all that.]
They have made positive changes but some of them don't have the best outcomes. They traded for Jesus Montero whose been a bust so far. They traded for Mike Morse but he's been hurt. They have a lot of talent that should be making a splash on the big stage soon though. Nick Franklin, Taijuan Walker, Danny Hultzen, James Paxton, and Mike Zunino. In a few years the Mariners should start winning.
The problem were the rise of the LA Angels, Oakland A's, and texas Rangers. Those teams rose in power as the Mariners declined a bit. The Seattle Mariners are still in the process of rebuilding. They traded Suzuki a year ago I believe, so it going to take some time.
Who are you talking about? What do you mean Seattle Mariners?
Remember when they were good? They won 116 games in 2001 and 93 in 02/03. How is it acceptable to anyone in the organization that they can go 12 years without making the playoffs? Why haven't there been any positive changes in that direction?
