the best way to tell is if they get a lot bigger very quickly and even that isn't certain. all players fundamentals are generally very good. just because they have a jerky swing doesnt mean they use steroids. Take Hunter Pence for example. the guy have an awful swing but is still successful and definitely doesnt juice up.
Look at a picture of Miggy in his rookie year, and compare it to right now. I'm not saying he did steroids, but that's a huge change
If it is a littler guy that suddenly gets jacked and hits home runs all the time. Look at barry bonds when he was on the pirates and then look at him when he was on the giants.. HUGE DIFFERENCE
