What is a moderate time to earn a black belt?

I got mine after 3 years. Is that too soon? I do ITF Taekwondo. I know 2 years usually is a common mcdojo time. But what is the a good amount of time to earn a black belt?

that depends how you train, how many days a week, how many hours a day and so forth.

usually it takes 4 to 5 years but varies greatly. take chuck norris for example he received his in about a year, but he also trained full time and not 3 hours a week.

8 to 10 years is not average that is more what bjj deemed for there sport rules. although some people do take that long because of there practicing habits.

a first degree black means you have an understanding of the basics and can begin your training nothing more.

It should take between 5 and 10 years to earn a legitimate black belt in a classical style.

Less than 5 years, makes you extraordinary, or a victim, can't tell from here.

I think over 5 years if training is intense but preferably 10<. I hate how so many martial arts have been watered down in to money making schemes.

Obviously no offense to you or your instructor I cant judge without knowing the specifics.

If it's under five years then there's a problem, but I even think that five years is kinda short for the "average time". I don't know, maybe 6-9 years? But it does depend on the person, some people rank up faster while others take longer. I don't really like telling people the average time because it puts a number in their head, when in reality every person moves at a different pace. I'm not saying you're wrong, I can't say whether or not your training is legitiment, that's up to you to decide.

Doesn't matter. As long as your techniques and power is good then you're fine.

Most people would say no less then 5 years.
