Longboard or Penny Board?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
Hi! Okay, so I turn 15 next month, and I want to get either a longboard or a Penny board for my birthday, but I'm not sure which would be best for me.

I've never done any sort of skateboarding or longboarding or whatever, and it'll be just for fun, nothing too serious. (I have been snowboarding for seven years, if that helps at all. My friends say that'll make it easier, but I don't really know).

Which is easier to learn how to ride, a longboard or Penny board?

Thanks!

Penny's are the bomb! Haha longboard are just that...long. Where ever you go be prepared to carry a long *** piece of wood. When I was 14 I got a longboard and ran the streets with my friends, they had penny's, and whenever we would stop to walk up a hill or to eat at a place I was the one busting ***. Longboards are fun if you are only looking to bomb a large hill, pennies are fun for tricks, hills and transportation. I still use my penny to this day at my university to get from class to class and get asked constantly where people can get them. My personal opinion penny's are way more fun. I still have a longboard but my penny gets used a lot more and they are pretty much indestructible. I can do hard flips and tre flips on my penny, it takes practice but it is something you could never do on a longboard.

As for what is easier, I would say both are about the same. It's more difficult to stop a longboard than it is a penny, but a longboard has more room to stand. I would still lean towards penny just because they are less difficult to stop.

Longboard all the way! Penny boards are great for carving on windy roads, but a longboard is the best way out of the two for traveling, and if you're making a longterm investment. I find it's way too easy for a new skateboarder to lose control on a penny board.

Longboard.

Longboard all the way, in my opinion penny boards are kinda stupid.
