The Zulu warriors were famous for using their short spear, the Assegai, in conjunction with the hide shield. I don't know if there is any documented account of their combat methods.

If my memory serves me right, there was a Chinese style of Kung Fu that used twin short spears, but it's one of those rare specialty styles that's hard to find a good qualified instructor for.

are there any disciplines that teach how to use a 3ft spear as a combat weapon? iv seen the much longer spears used this way but i cant find any for a short spear
