Having a "very hard punch" isn't the same thing as actually fighting.
He's not a trained fighter. His knees and neck have had serious injuries that reduce his ability to physically perform. So he's older, beaten-up, and doesn't have the skills that the people he'd be facing would possess. He'd probably do worse than Kimbo Slice did.
Also, the octagon cage used by the UFC is 30 feet across. It's hard to "blitz" someone from 30 feet away. By the time he got close enough to throw his punches, he'd be eating kicks or getting tackled.
I'm sure he's tougher than the average human being, but he's nowhere near a UFC caliber fighter.
Hell yeah I think Steve Austin would become a champion if he was a UFC fighter. In fact he actually said that he wished he did get into MMA fighting instead of professional wrestling.
He's rather aged for cage fighting, wouldn't you think?
Also, he's trained in pro wrestling, which isn't exactly a true fighting style. They're athletes, no doubt, but "fighting" isn't something they actually train to do. Look up instructional videos of pro wrestling moves and you'll see almost everything they do requires the assistance and cooperation of the other guy.
Even Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is quoted with saying he wouldn't fair well in a UFC match, that what he does is just for entertainment.
If he was in his prime and got the proper training than he might do fairly well, but if you threw him to the wolves on the assumption that he'd do well because he's got quick hand speed and a hard punch, he'd be destroyed. A hard punch and quick hand speed don't mean jack to people who know how to defend against it.
The man is like 50 years old. That should answer your question.
Before you say he is a fake fighter. Shawn Michaels and many others said Steve Austin had a very hard punch he also had very fast hand speed if you watch him blitz people. If he blitzed people in UFC do you think he could become a champion? If not how far do you think he could of got?
