I am honestly quite disgusted as to how people on here are treating the yanks and how people continue to accuse them of having "no sportsmanship" when I can honestly say that the American athletes have actually been some of the most respectable towards others. They have praised the Canadian team constantly for playing a good game and the Canadian athletes did not praise the US at all. The coach accused them before-hand of being dirty players and now accuse them of cheating, when Canada was the most physical. That one Canuck player, Trancredi, was running on a yellow card and made a good amount of fowls against the Americans, even at a point stomping on the head of Carli Loyd and NO CALL was made against that at all. If the Norway coach was "bought" as these horrible sore loosers on this page are accusing, than Trancedi would have recieved a red card. There were plenty of times when that could of happened. Just because the call is rarley ever made doesn't mean it CAN'T be made. The Canuck goalie even ADMITTED that she was warned already to stop stalling and she continued to do so anyways. The ball wasn't just touched once, but twice and if you want to blame anything for that call than blame the rule book, because the rule book doesn't specify what a "hand ball" consists of. If it wasn't stopped by the arms of both Canadian players, it may have had a chance of getting in. The game ended up tying and the Canadians had PLENTY of time to score another goal, but the US just couldn't be stopped at the end. All I am hearing is a bunch of excuses on here and I know it's all because the US may win another gold and no one wants that. If it was the other way around, no one would be complaining if the Canadians recieved a PK. It's just all unfair and the way people are treating the yanks, who I believe deserved to win, is absolutely deplorable and I know that others know that the game wasn't "bought". This is just another example of the world-wide hypocrisy that plagues the internet.
And the typical poms on here are just agreeing with it because if they can't win then they rather bring a powerful country down with them and they don't want the US to receive another gold medal. Excellent to remind you all that Canada is the reason why GB is no longer in the match.
Thumbs-downs just proves my point...
The Canadian Women Soccer team is mad at the ref for being inconsistent in making calls. The ref's calls of a goalkeeper holding the ball too long and then a handball is what gave the U.S. the point needed to tie the game and then win in OT. Canadians in general are mad about the loss, and mad at Americans because Americans aren't realizing how bad the ref was and just figure U.S. > Canada. The U.S. coach even was surprised the call was made by the ref... that says a lot.
And the Americans let them get those 3 leads. A handball requires intent:

Loving that these are the same American who were whining about the gymnastics rules that are always enforced.
And finally lay off the referee mistakes happen and referees have bad games too.
Sadly, this is a trend around the world. "What? Our country is getting beaten by dem Americans? I must show hard evidence that PROVES America is terrible at the olympics, and that they are all fat and lazy!" I've seen a few Europeans acting like this, and needless to say--Dumber than most Americans.
Canada's mad we beat them because it's a competetive sport and when it's competetive, there's "usually" a sore loser in the mix.
I believe US athletes have the most pressure put on them. When they win, they still lose because critics must call them arrogant. When they lose, it gets shoved in their faces. All I ask is that people be more kind and considerate to every countries feelings.
I wonder how hostile it'll be in 2015 when the World Cup is in Canada
I'm sure by then, those Canadians will STILL be bitter and losing sleep over that lost, as well continue to use the ref as the scapegoat for why they blew three leads.
But we're happy that people think this is a typical American.
The British are getting the same treatment from the French and Australians, they've even accused us of cheating! Don't worry about it, some people are just petty.
Hey they knew payback was coming from that 2010 Vancouver hockey final, and it's not our fault that canadians can't compete in warm weather like everybody else
so I have been living in Canada for a couple of years to be with my fiance and omg....the amount of hatred towards the Americans cuzz of the olympics is just stupid...http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/eh-game/ugly-americans-back-2012-london-olympics-115632623.html
they are bashing Americans for saying some pretty strong words, but its a sport there will always be comments like this. So my question is, do you think that they are being a little over reactive???
read the article as well as some of the comments (caution: some comments may cause anger lol)
Did canada actually expect to win metal count? They have 14 total metals compared to 81...
yes, we are overreacting . but did you see the hand ball that was just bad
They're just being sore losers, and definently over-reacting. There was one person who literally said they wished the entire US Women's Soccer team died in a plane crash
I agree with Canada, USA doesn't deserve to be at the top
So what they're mad they suck. If theyre angry train harder
