there were many free kicks not paid, but that applied to both sides. with umpiring standards at such a low level it has to be expected
New season, new players, new coaching styles, expect some upsets. Like they say in the classics " One sparrow, a spring does not make". Don't blame the umpires
Certainly wasn't the umpiring that lost the game for Sydney. Sydney was beaten fair and square by a better team on the day. Franklin could be an expensive rope around Sydney's neck, Hawthorn were probably glad to get rid of him.
GWS couldn't get a free in the 1st Quarter, mate.
