I am writing a book about football and need to know about it, basically I know nothing about it so I need to know how it's played, the amount of players on field. What each player does, the amount of players on a team, the scoring system, and basically anything you need to know about itI am writing a book about football and need to know about it, basically I know nothing about it so I need to know how it's played, the amount of players on field. Is writing a book on a subject you know nothing about a good idea?

there are 11 players for each team so 22 in total on a field. The positions are striker, midfield, defense, goalkeeper. The names of these positions may vary and other positions can be added when different tactics and game strategies are used. Each goal is worth one point. Penalties are taken after a game that is tied or during a game when there was a bad foul. Penalties are taken from the penalty spot and it is a direct kick from the spot to the goal. Only one player and the goalie is involved. When the ball goes out on the sidelines, the team that didnt touch it last will get to throw it in. Corner kicks are taken by the opposing team when the defensive team kicks the ball out (on the line behind the goal) if the offensive team kicks the ball out over the goal line then it will be the goalies ball. This is a turnover and the defensive team gets teh ball. The teams switch sides at half time. In official games the game length is 90 mins and the halftime is 15 mins. Most players wear shin guards on their lower legs to protect themselves from minor injuries. I hope this helps you good luck with your book :)
