If you have the money why not see about getting a few private lessons?
These will give you some idea of the things that go on in a martial arts class and in one to one instruction.
Besides that, you can look up some moves. When I teach we start with foot work. Being grounded is your foundation. First it helps keep you from being taken to the ground (not 100% but quite a bit), and it helps you develop power for strength in your strikes (punches and kicks) and blocks.
After that I teach basic blocks and strikes. People love flash but the reality is that in a self defense situation the basics tend to work the best as you don't have lots of time to remember much. Things have to be automatic.
Finally I teach situational awareness. Life isn't like the movies and TV. Fighting isn't pretty and glamorous. The goals are not to get in a fight, to survive, and to get home without being hurt or put in jail.
So if any of this helps, you can look up some of the stuff. Do some searching on Youtube and you'll see some great stuff (and lots of junk). If not, read more and get ideas from other authors.
Lets be a bit more creative.:).You are a story teller:). ....Hm...Lets say the girl is attacked by 3 (don't be racist or against a group of people, put the three to be a mixture or something:)) and the boy saves her by coming close. Two of them are running and the one that was hitting her at the time more than the others, is getting a few strikes by the boy and then runs as well.
Then the boy takes her home, he is taking care her injuries, they make love all night long (what do you mean getting just kissed are we living in the middle ages or something??:) he shows her a few moves and then he is telling her about a teacher in a mountain or something...:) Then the girl goes to the mountain to learn martial arts from a wise Oriental old man with a strange long beard with not that much hair on.:) Not self-defense course or things like that, normal martial arts. She sleeps there and she trains for a period of time and then she comes down from the mountain. Then she finds the boy and they make love all night long for a second time. (The boy's character is supposed to be cool and laid back by the way. lets not forget these important details:)) Then one day she faces a challenge and handles that challenge well. The story is ending by her and the boy making love all night long for a third time. I wrote most of it, create a challenge for her, and you will have a good story:)
P.S If you are very very young ignore the love part and stay with the kiss.:)
I could believe it if they were both teenagers and the boy was teaching her outside of a real classroom, say at his place or her place. You'd have to set up the story so that the boy is either extremely naive or a predator.
I think the scenario you want is based on a self-defense class. I suggest taking a self-defense course for research.
There is one big problem with your story. If he really was teaching her self defense this would never happen, I mean the kissing part. Self defense is as much mental as it is physical and if your mind is on romance and not really self defense there is no way you will learn it. Those people who have sexual fantasies about two people who are seriously training in martial arts have never in their lives trained. There is nothing sexual about martial arts and it is the furthest from your mind when training hard and struggling with techniques. Any teacher who knows martial arts would be out of his mind teaching someone how to hurt when that person is a space cadet like the girl in your story. One has to be fully focused on what one is doing or someone gets hurt, not kissed.
Secondly, any writer, painter etc. needs to do research not rely on what someone tells him/her in order to depict something accurately. So I would strongly recommend you do some homework on that subject if you are including martial arts in your story. I work part time for the CCAD and the biggest problem with aspiring artists is they do not want to be bothered by having to do research. Be better than the average and do your own research. It's part of the fun of writing a story. ...and by research I mean to physically go out and experience martial arts and it's intensity if it is well done. Then you will understand what I am talking about in the first paragraph. Take your camera with you and take lots of pics and even videos but if you go to a local school ask permission if you can do research and tell them what it is for and that you are writing a story. Spend a day at a local tournament. Tournament martial art is not the same technically as self defense but for writing a story it will do.
Why not do a re-write of the Karate Kid (1984), you could subtract Mr Miyagi and make Daniel's teacher Ali Mills - the girlfriend of the antagonist from whom she learned her skills and teaches Daniel about Johnny Lawrence's weaknesses?
(Of course, you can get clever and change Mr Miyagi into a Mrs Miyagi and turn it into an intergeneration affair; or keep Mr Miyagi and turn it into a gay intergenerational affair twist.)
You're not in love.
wax on, wax off

Hi everyone!
I am writing a story just for fun, not anything serious. In my story this girl asks this guy to teach her to fight, more self defense than actual wrestling or anything. The girl is kind of clumsy at first and has absolutely no knowledge of self-defense or fighting. She is petite and not very muscular.
He starts out teaching her the basics. Eventually, while training one day, the girl kisses the boy.
The problem I'm having is that I have absolutely no knowledge of self-defense moves or how to describe them. Can you help me out a little
Thanks!
