i'm a girl (13) and i have no experience board skating although i have skated inline skate for like more than 2 years and when i was a kid like 4-7 i have tried scooter...
i wanna learn either penny board or skateboard during summer by myself i just wanna learn to cruise i dont plan on doing any tricks although i wouldn't mind when i get a lil more good at it..i dont even know if i can stand on it but it's not impossible i will learn eventually. right? lol
ok so which one is the best for me?
oh and do penny boards break like skateboards do?

Penny boards are way better for several reasons,
?The are way smoother, easier and nicer to ride because the wheels are bigger and softer. They are like a small long board.
?Penny boards are really in style right now
?Penny boards can be driven over by cars and don't break (I've tested that!)
?Skateboards make way more noise and send annoying vibrations through your feet.
Penny board all the way, Unless you want to do trick then get a skate board.

I would say a penny board will be better for you. If you wanted to do tricks I would say get a skateboard, but the penny board will feel better when you are cruising.
i think penny boards are awful for a beginner. they are so small and a lot more unstable. you can always buy soft wheels and put them on a regular board. my advice would be to go to your local skate shop or walmart and stand on a penny-type board and regular board and see for yourself the difference
I would say skateboard only cause it's bigger to work with. Penny boards are for more experienced people. Just my over all opinion
