I think it is never too late. As according to other posts, there is no limit. Others started from 18, others started skateboarding from 40+. So don't be afraid, it is OK!
That's a fine age to learn. I'm sure you're going to get lots of "you're never too old" answers but I'd say around 70 would probably be too old, unless you're in great shape. But 14 is fine.
