You can if you want to. Many people have done it already.
By the way, baguazhang is an art that also relies heavily on palm strikes.
First off Karate isn't a martial art. it's a term to describe the MANY martial arts that come from Okinawa and later Japan.
Second, Kudos to you for understanding that palm strikes can be very effective.
Now with that said, do you understand that there are only so many ways you can do a palm strike? Do you understand that "adding some punches, etc" just doesn't make sense?
You say "the defence system will be using your arms as defending with your palms would really hurt unless your aiming to grab someone ". Really? Have you ever met an old school Uechi or Goju Ryu master? They'd laugh at your palm strikes against their arms! And your arm blocks would be nothing more than something to slow down the use of their hardened arms. Even someone like myself who has conditioned their arms for a decade wouldn't think much of any block you can generate unless you add body conditioning.
On top of that, you might want to look at an art like Uechi Ryu and learn what the style teaches. I say this as Uechi Ryu is one of the "less complicated" styles and one that has fewer kata, and techniques than most. And even with that said, we don't' limit ourselves to palm strikes (although they're incorporated in several kata and one of my favorite techniques).
Finally, how would your art deal with not hurting someone? Say you run into a drunk family member? Using just palm strikes you're options aren't very good. In my own case, I can block, grab, move, shift weight, move them, restrain them, etc. And this from an art with only a handful of techniques in each "category of each technique".
What I'm trying to say is that your post indicates that you have very little understanding of martial arts. And you're an example of why there is so much trash out there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't think you're ready to "create" an art. Take time and learn all you can about martial arts. Learn what people do and why they do it. then learn to incorporate those things in your own art. Once you master this and still feel that you know better, then you will be qualified to discuss starting an art.
Oh and FYI, while I train in Uechi Ryu I cross train with folks from other styles, and attend seminars, and read all I can. I also watch videos, and talk with other martial artists. And with over a dozen years, I'm just learning to make my martial art my own.
No not really. You have to actually master some form first and become a martial artist before that is even close to a possibility. You would need a great deal of natural talent as well as a great deal of knowledge in fighting arts, exercise methods and the human body. Just being good at fighting is not enough.
Mate long story short....no,it wont be as original as you think.

Its tough out there its ahh tough education ya know.
I've seen this one. Let me guess....Naruto? You saw that on Naruto right? I've never watched a single episode off that show in my life yet I feel like I know everything that is going on.
I very much doubt you will be creating anything within the martial arts world. How are new arts created? By filling in the gaps and the holes of an old one. The problem is that in today's world where everything is global and nothing is limited to one area of the world that is not possible. There are thousands and thousands off different martial arts. All the holes are more or less filled up. The only thing that is left to be solves are minor details. Details that you only notice after years and years of training. How many years of training do you have? Or should I ask how many days of training do you have?
Some idiot made up the so called "Brazilian jiu jitsu", so yes, i guess you can take from a traditional style, make a few alterations and call it your own.
For me, the only Jiu Jitsu is Japanese Jiu Jitsu.
Any jackass can take from an original style, add a few changes and call it his own style.
Has someone stolen the comma key off your keyboard?
You obviously have no basis in martial arts period, so no, you can't just make one up. You would just be a kid waving your arms around.
I wanna start a martial arts which is right for me not learn one already out there like capoeira and jui jitsu and karate I wanna make a martial arts entirely based on using your palms to attack I have always have very very strong palms and long arms so I kinda want to make my own personal martail arts I would also write down and examine each of my techniques and write down why they will be used and why they will work so if anyone else did wanna use this martial arts they could and see why it works but this martial arts will be really for people who are fast have long arms and strong palms, the defence system will be using your arms as defending with your palms would really hurt unless your aiming to grab someone anyway all in all I just wanna create my own martial arts made personally for me like bruce lee did but he realised his and now its a big martial arts and a lot of people learn it now XD anyway positive answers please guys.
NOTE: even though the martial arts will be best on palms and speed, there will be a few punch, defense and take down techniques, not to sure on stances yet.
Martial arts name: Tenohira no geijutsu translated in english is Art Of The Palm
let me guess your about 15 or so.
bruce lee never created a style he created a philosophy, he has stated that himself several times besides the fact he didnt believe in styles, why would he create one if he didnt believe in them.
from your description you dont know what a martial art entails. its more then just a collection of strikes and stances.
if you dont train in several martial arts styles for several decades you wont be able to create one. it takes decades to understand one style.
no one ever created a martial art on there own with out training under several instructors
Do you know how many people on here ask us this same question? No you will not be creating your own martial art, all you'll be doing is combining existing arts into one. That's not creative, nor is it new. It's stealing. Besides, what martial arts have you mastered, where you feel you have license to take material from?
EDIT: We're douchebag's because we aren't jerking ya off, telling you we want to learn from the great master Jordan D. French?? Sorry bub, you have nothing new or special to offer us. We've seen it all.
