Is 15 too old to start gymnastics?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
Hi I'm a 15 year old girl, and I wanna start gymnastics. I've been wanting to do it for a while! I'm not extremely flexible, but my back, and arms are. I can do a scorpion and a back bend. I don't know how to do a cartwheel, can't do a split, etc. Do you think I will be able to join? I wanna join a sport. THANK YOU??

It's never too late to start gymnastics! I started when I was 11 years old, and I have to say I'm getting more flexible every single day. I didn't know how to do a cartwheel 9 months ago! So don't worry.

I encourage you to start something simple, like I did. Some simple gymnastics include: cartwheel, handstand, and simple gymnastics on bars.

WARNING: The splits is very hard to do! Touch your toes everyday for some time and you'll eventually do it! ;)

You're not too old.

It does depend on which event you chose to focus on. I started when I was 14. I only stop when I joined the army and was injured in combat.

It's never too late.

Fyi I'm a guy lol

Since you are flexible, you should be able to fit in a lot easier. And it's never to late to join a sport. You'll regret it if you don't join, trust me.

It helps to discuss this with the School Office

to learn what a parent must do before going to

the school sport director. Yes, grown-up stuff

is always complicated but they make the rules.

It's never old to join any sport.

It's never too late to start anything it may be harder since you're older so just be patient.

No I started when I was 12. You will need to be able to do a cartwheel though. Go for it!!
