Flying in cheerleading?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
I'm 5.5 and 99 lbs. in 8th grade. Am I too heavy/tall to be a flyer? I have long legs. My bases are about 5.3/ 5.2 maybe 5.4 if so how could I tell or ask my coach I want to try flying

Oh wow. I seriously hope that person was kidding. 99 pounds is not heavy at all for a living, breathing person.

You would be a great flyer! Well, assuming that you are flexible. And can carry your own weight. You are tall, but that doesn't really matter. As long as you can stay tight and carry your own weight, you're fine. Make sure that you are stretching a lot. Just ask your coach if you can try flying. Don't beg, just ask. Say something like, "I just wante to try and see if I was any good at it. "

If you do good, your coach will keep you in the air.

Tips:

Stay tight. Push off of your bases shoulders. Lock out your legs. Don't be scared. You might only get one chance. You can't ruin it by being scared. Just go for it. Give it all you have, and do your very best. Listen to your coach. It is actually a lot higher (you think) once you get in the air, so don't freak out. You are directly in the middle of 3-4 people, and it's not hard to catch a flyer.

Good luck! I hope you fly! It's really fun!

Wtf. Why did that person say 99 lb is too much? Im 14. 5'3 103 pounds and im a flyer? You seem really tall...though my friends tried to be flyers and they're really tall. They fell down alot i think its cause the height. You could be possibly if you set your mind too it just know your scales/needles etc before you get up there i dont think any coach would just put a no skilled flyer up in the air. Good luck! :)

You're not heavy it's just you're on the taller side but that's okay because I know a flyer who is taller than her bases but that's fine because I would say she weighs around you're weight. And trying to get your coach to let you fly just if you guys are stunting ask if you could try to fly, I wouldn't be scared. (: good luck

A whole 99 pounds!?! To heavy.
