No, the Delhi Commonwealth Games were only just acceptable. India would need to prove it could avoid a repeat of the problems the Commonwealth Games faced before they have any chance at all of hosting the Olympics.
There is absolutely no chance for 2020 as the bidding cities have already been selected, 2024 is extremely unlikely as planning for a bid would need to be well under way by now.
As an Indian, I'd have to be realistic and say that until the poverty and corruption issues are dealt with, spending money hosting a grand event for the sake of 'pride' is stupid. Lets hope in 12 years those issues are solved first...

It really just depends on if the country can afford it, safety, demand etc.
India has never hosted an olympics.Recently India hosted the Common Wealth Games which was a great success.So I think that India can also host the olympics.Is there any chances of olympics in India in 2020 or 2024?If YES , It will be a great pride for all the Indians!! And for me too !
