It's a money grab, plain and simple. Golf has been struggling. Rounds are down, costs are up. Ratings are down. This move is an attempt to get people to want to play. We're almost tapped out in America, so they're looking to other countries, especially China.
But here's the thing: how are the average Chinese citizens, or any others (like Brazilians, for example) going to get into golf? We're constantly hammered with the "you NEED to buy this $400 driver, and buy a new one every year, or else you aren't really golfing" bull$hit. If Americans are having a hard time swallowing that, how are people from a country who's annual average salary going to do it? How are they going to play, when most of the courses are $100+ a round "signature" (a famous golfer designed it) courses?
It's a nice sentiment, but one made with dollar signs in their eyes...
No, there are too many sports in the Games, in fact, tennis needs to leave too.
Why do professionals need to play in the Olympics when they make millions each year and do not really represent their countries they are representing their sponsors.
Not at all! This is one boring Anglo-American sport that nobody outside people of British ancestry give two shits about!
oh no. watching rich men take a walk while hitting a little ball.
i would rather get a root canal.
