Collingwood invested in Hotels a few years back and that got pretty messy with lower than expected returns &pokie problems etc and that and the subsequent off-loading of some dragged assets down for a while. From the business perspective, assets are a gauge of historical good or bad management. Current profit on the bottom line of the annual balance sheet should be the gauge IMO.
Revenue is how much people spend on your product. Profit is the difference between revenue and costs. Wealth is what you've done with the profit! Richest is generally the person with the greatest wealth. Like someone said - Collingwood lost a fair bit some time back. Geelong, the second biggest sporting brnd in the country behind Collingwood, dug itself out of a big debt hole about 10 years back. Essendon has had big member numbers for a long time and has been a competitive club with a 'good product' for ages. It wouldn;t surprise me if they've accumulated more wealth than most
