Opinions on the AFL drug policy, is it working?

I need some help understanding the AFL drug policy and whether it is working or not. (Australian football)

No it's not working

As Kurt said. The problem with the AFL drug policy is that in any other sport a player is suspended for any use of a prohibited substance, they do not get second and third chances as they do in AFL.

The drugs policy includes recreational drugs (the stuff YAHOO's on) and performance-enhancing drugs (e.g. Doctor Dank). For the recreational drugs, it's a strike policy, but for the latter it's an immediate ban, ranging from a couple of years to lifetime.

I reckon it's more of a case of asking the question 'does the AFL's integrity unit work'. because personally this so-called 'integrity unit' is failing miserably when it comes to the question of drugs in our code of footy. Cheers.
