He is certainly not worth that much. Maybe he could have commanded that type of money if the team gave in and he had a season this year similar to the one he had last year. But with only 17 goals in 11 games and players like Garlett, Yarran, Menzel and Buckley waiting in the wings, he just can't earn that much per year.
Betts is a little gun, but I don't think he's worth anywhere near that amount, if a club pays him 600k a year they would be paying overs, and putting their club under undue financial strain, 400k tops in my books and even that is pushing it. I doubt he'll get 600k, that's a hell of a lot of cash for a small forward, it's be different if he kicked 60+ gls a year.

IMO....no way. He'll be lucky if Malthouse decides to keep at the club. I think Carlton will use Betts as trade bait, I don't see him staying at Carlton beyond 2013. Whether, Eddie excepts the deal, is another matter.
No. Betts would not be worth more than 300k in a functioning forward line and that is something the Blues haven't got.
