Define hard. It's disciplined but fairly relaxed compared to the other two forces. You'll train physically and study whatever trade or profession you're trying but you get to play a lot of sport and relax a fair bit too. You can take PE as far as you want to provided you stay pretty fit, learn how to march, shoot and salute and stuff. They put a lot more emphasis on doing your job well - and for that they give you great training.
It depends on what your working as. Ex, Engineer, Pilot...etc. I wouldn't know much stuff about the Airforce though. And hell, they'l be strict more than Mick Malthouse.
