Essendon would get it regardless. That would be part of the punishment. Q, the C-B Bulldogs deal was only discovered late in the season, so they just had the points taken away from them, they didn't have to play for the whole year with none.
They'd be playing for pride only. Even though they play, I would imagine that any team they played would get the points, virtually like a bye so percentage wouldn't come into it.
Essendon will, I think if Demetriou say that they are ineligible to play for points, he is also implying they are ineligible to play for percentage also.
Yeah - for the life of me I can't remember exactly what happened with Canterbury and (I think) Melbourne Storm in the NRL. I think both were incapable of getting any awards, including the spoon or any priority assistance for coming last. Maybe Bill P would know. Might ask him, he follows both codes.
Pretty sure Essendon wouldn't get any % if their matches were just glorified practice matches, I don't think the Bombers would officially be in the comp, so the wooden spoon would go to the next team up from the bottom, whether that gws or whoever.
