Hi there, I was wondering if there is anything that I should be doing in particular - fitness wise - to prepare for the footy season? I have started training lightly, I suppose, by running once or twice a week, as well as cycling a swimming. I have also included some weight training. Is there anything else that I should be doing, or more of something that I should be focussing on? More running, 5 days per week. Two weight sessions per week. Cycling and swimming are cross training. They are not specific for footy, you can use them only after doing your running. Do these sessions. A 3-5k run 3 days per week. A 1k warm up followed by 3 x 1 km runs one day per week. A 1k warm up followed by 10 sprints of 100-200 metres with a 1 min break between each one. One day per week.
